How to make saudi champagne

Saudi Champagne is probably one of the most popular and trending drinks here in Saudi Arabia. Its one of the best non alcoholic beverages out there. Made with apple juice and soda, it has just the right amount of tang and sweetness in it. It is one of those refreshing drinks that makes your day.

The first time I had it, was back in 2016, when I had first moved to Jeddah. I was INSTANTLY taken by it and ever since then, it has become my go to drink to order in Restaurants. It is usually served in Arabian, Turkish and Lebanese restaurants all over in Saudi Arabia. I usually write long posts explaining each step of a recipe as I go, but this is so straight forward, there really isn’t anything to explain. Just drive right in the recipe card.

P.s. Skip the soda and make this an absolutely perfect healthy drink to give to your kids or guests in the next party you host.

p.p.s. I love pairing Saudi Champagne with my chili parm nuggets and have an evening chill.

If you are thinking “Champagne? Haraam, haraam…” and that too during Ramadan, please stop right there! Hehe… the name of this drink can be super misleading. Plus the word “Saudi” added to it is like a big irony, isn’t it? I thought the same when I first came across this drink. I had a little stunned time before coming back to my senses and then reading the recipe. There is no back story as to why this drink is called so, but I suppose it is because it has the same color as champagne. Moreover, this is a completely Halal page, so you know I won’t post anything wrong, InShaAllah… 😀 It is said to be the most popular drink in Saudi, thanks to its super refreshing properties on a really hot day.

For this week’s Blogging Marathon #122 theme of “Kid’s Delight – Summer Coolers”, this is the second recipe after the Nannari Sarbath. The name may not seem kid friendly but my girls gave a thumbs up to it, after initially frowning at me making something out of apple juice. Apple juice is always last choice of juices from the shelf, at least for my folks. I was actually a bit worried about its acceptance, but then I found that add something carbonated to any juice and my girls take it hands down. Hehe… I am not a mother who encourages them to have anything carbonated, but once in a while, I do allow and that too in small portions. You can completely skip the 7-up/ Sprite bit and go for sparkling water. What I figure out is that there should be some carbonated element to go with the apple juice. Add to it some bites from chopped apple, orange and some mint leaves, this is a total winner. I have kept my bites to bare minimum since it may end up being trashed. But feel free to add more to your requirement and enjoy it. Yes, this will be a complete winner with the kids… 🙂
